I'm really not digging how pages automatically anchor themselves to each other or to the file menu... I usually have multiple files open at once and I am having a hard time moving around files, when I try to drag the document off the file menu it causes the software to freeze up. I like the feature for the different tables, but not for documents. I never had this problem before with any of the past versions of InDesign. Is there a way to change this in preferances so that it doesn't do this - like CS, CS2, CS3?

Interesting read. I found a script that will allow me to preview SWF directly in InDesign - be good to see this is CS5. Billy Gee

Please bring back "Paste Into" using the same coordinates. I do catalogs and calendars where I need to move pictures from one frame to another. With Indesign 2 (and below) I could copy the picture from one frame and use "paste into" to move it to another frame (same size frame) while keeping the picture in the same position as the previous frame. Now I have to go to much more work to reposition the picture in the frame.

Still not true with Leopard. Even with InDesign CS4. Does not work. See Below:

14.) I would like to copy from InDesign and paste into Illustrator, instead of saving out an EPS, placing and embedding it, then deleting the EPS I had to make. #2124

Adobe: You can copy and paste from Illustrator into InDesign, or from InDesign to Illustrator; no need to save an EPS from AI or ID first. In version CS3 and higher, the clipboard preferences for each application need to be set to “prefer PDF”. To check your prefs in each app, press (Cmd+K) [Ctrl+K], then choose the respective “clipboard” section. For Illustrator, turn on “Copy as PDF” and for InDesign, turn on “Prefer PDF When Pasting” and “Copy PDF to Clipboard”.

Oh Oh dear #1902. I was a FrameMaker user back when it shipped for the Sun. Such a wonderful piece of software. Then came a pretty good Mac version. My master's thesis done in it. But then- the sale to Adobe. The lack of support. The sad sad days. The crying, the hair pulling out, the scotch consumption.

I went back to TeX to finish my dissertation and to this day, I continue to use it.

But- I keep hoping... crossing fingers... making offerings and sacrifices to various writing gods.

My calls go unheeded. I'm giving up on these idol-based religions and switching to Scientology.

"crossing fingers for CS5"?

i want to work with the all fixes NOW! in CS4 released freshly a few weeks ago.
Adobe apps aren´t shareware product made by a little team of student, Adobe is a Billon Dolloar heavy company.
so do not talk bullshit to us and stick your crossed fingers somewhere else in the meantime.

Mike Perry, are you asking for something beyond the current ability to create free-standing custom dictionaries on the fly (Preferences > Dictionary), to swap out one for another on a per-document basis (same dialog), and import word lists to them (Edit > Spelling > Dictionaries)?
